Protected Disclosure Community of Practice

Protected Disclosure Community of Practice meeting

The first event following the establishment of IBAC's Protected Disclosure Community of Practice was held in September. Approximately 50 Protected Disclosure Coordinators and public sector professionals from Victorian state and local government entities attended a workshop, and a number also participated via webinar.

Presentations on the day included:

  • an overview of the protected disclosure process
  • a case study demonstrating the end-to-end process of handling a protected disclosure
  • a case study setting out the important procedures that need to be followed when handling a protected disclosure.

The workshop had a strong practical focus with the case studies highlighting the sensitivities involved in managing a protected disclosure complaint from start to finish, including confidentiality and welfare requirements.

The Protected Disclosure Community of Practice aims to provide opportunities for Protected Disclosure Coordinators, and other public sector professionals working in integrity and governance roles, to network, share knowledge and update their skills. The Community of Practice plans to hold two to three events each year. Public sector professionals interested in joining the Protected Disclosure Community of Practice can contact engage@ibac.vic.gov.au.
