New resources for Protected Disclosure Coordinators

From 1 January 2020, the Protected Disclosure Act 2012 is replaced by the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012. See Public interest disclosures for more information.

IBAC has developed new resources for protected disclosure coordinators. These include fact sheets on protected disclosures and a presentation for in-house training.

IBAC's Manager Engagement, Olivia Kings, said the resources were developed to provide simple, practical advice to Protected Disclosure Coordinators (PDCs). They were informed by feedback from PDCs.

"The strong message we heard was that PDCs want practical information to help them support people making protected disclosures," she said.

"In response, we’ve developed new resources which are now on IBAC's website. A presentation is also available that can be used by PDCs to conduct training in their own organisations. The presentation helps to explain how people can make a protected disclosure and what protections they can receive."

The protected disclosure fact sheets and training materials are:

  • Fact sheet 1 "What is a protected disclosure?"
  • Fact sheet 2 "Information for Protected Disclosure Coordinators"
  • Fact sheet 3 "Thinking of reporting corruption or misconduct? You may have protections"
  • Powerpoint slidepack to assist PDCs with informing staff about PD requirements
