Complaints handling process - complaints against Victoria Police officers and protective services officers

This flowchart outlines the process and paths a complaint can take when members of the public, public sector agencies or police employees complain about police officers or protective services officers to IBAC or Victoria Police.

The flow chart outlines four key stages: lodge complaint, complaint receipt, process and outcome.

The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012 (Vic) ensures that people who report improper conduct and corruption in the Victorian public sector (whistleblowers) can do so in the knowledge that they will be protected. Learn more about protections provided to people making a public interest disclosure.

You can also watch short videos to learn more about what and how you can report or IBAC's police oversight role.
