As part of Operation Ord, IBAC held public hearings in April and June 2015, and tabled a special report to Parliament in April 2016.
This major investigation examined the conduct of then senior officers of the Department of Education and Training (DET) and others, in connection with the use of ‘banker schools’ and related activities.
IBAC’s investigation focused on allegations that senior departmental officers misappropriated funds from the Department’s budget, through false and inflated invoicing as well as arranging payment of inappropriate expenses such as excessive hospitality, travel and personal items.

IBAC recommended the DET implement reforms to address the serious corruption uncovered in Operation Ord and to improve its systems and practices to prevent corruption.
The DET was required to report back to IBAC on progress in implementing these reforms. The following reports have been provided:

IBAC publishes the responses of public sector agencies to IBAC recommendations following investigations to inform the community about the actions agencies have advised they are taking, and to help other public sector agencies to improve their systems and practices to prevent corruption.
